'37 Bugatti
The '37 Bugatti casting, designed by Larry Wood, is based on the Bugatti Type 50, an exclusive, hand-built chassis of which only 65 real examples were produced between 1931 and 1933 for wealthy buyers; the diecast recreates the two-tone paint schemes those cars were known for. Despite its name, the casting was for a time mislabeled the '1932 Bugatti Type 50' before later releases corrected the year, and its originally metal trunk and fenders were switched to plastic in 1989. This 1996 Treasure Hunts release (toy #15085) comes from the casting's long 1981-2006 production span.
