'40's Woodie

The '40's Woodie was designed by Larry Wood and debuted in 1980 as part of the HiRakers series, whose special rear axle could be pulled down to raise the back of the car into a raked hot-rod stance. Only that first 1980 release had smooth side panels; every subsequent version, including this one, carries the wood-grain texture the casting is known for, along with a molded piece of luggage on the rear interior deck. This example (toy #15269) was issued in the Silver Series II.
