'65 Mustang Convertible

This casting reproduces the 1965 Ford Mustang convertible, based on the car Ford designed at its Dearborn, Michigan studio, and Hot Wheels released the model starting in 1984 as one of the few mainline castings with a functional opening hood revealing a detailed engine. Early versions ran an unpainted ZAMAC base, clear windows, and tan interior on white-wall wheels, until a 2014 retool cast the hood shut and switched to a plastic base for cost savings while adding more sculpted body detail. It has since appeared in the 2009 Treasure Hunt series and in a 2020 HW Screen Time set referencing the James Bond film Thunderball.
