'65 Mustang Convertible

This casting reproduces the 1965 Ford Mustang in open-top form, cast with a hinged hood that lifts to reveal a V8 engine, one of relatively few mainline Hot Wheels castings to include that opening feature. The convertible variant of the classic pony car line rolled out as its own casting distinct from the hardtop version, giving collectors a cruiser-styled alternative built for street and strip. In 2014 the tooling was reworked as a cost-cutting measure, with the hood cast shut and the base switched to plastic.
