Buick Wildcat
Designed by Larry Wood, the Buick Wildcat casting represents the fourth concept car to carry the Wildcat name since Buick began using it in 1953; this 1985 iteration was billed as an expression of muscular sculptural design and ran an experimental 3.8-liter V6 built by McLaren Engines. The real car had no conventional doors, instead using an opening canopy, plus a steering-wheel-mounted heads-up display and a four-speed transmission, with only two examples ever built, one show car and one running prototype. The Hot Wheels casting mirrors this by omitting a separate window piece and interior, using painted body sections to suggest the canopy instead, and it appeared as a 1997 Treasure Hunt after debuting in the 1993 Demolition Man tie-in set.
