Camaro Z-28
The Camaro Z-28 casting, designed by Larry Wood, is based on the third-generation Z28 production Camaro sold from 1978 to 1981, and it descends from the Cookin' Camaro tooling used earlier in the Scorchers lineup -- one of only four Scorchers castings Mattel kept using after that series ended. Because of its Scorchers origins, the casting has no molded interior and instead uses blacked-out or heavily tinted windows; early examples also carried a misspelled 'Camro Z-28' base before it was corrected. This 1996 mainline release (toy #12922) predates the casting's move to a plastic base in 2007.
