Corvette Stingray (1976)

This casting depicts a third-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, specifically modeled after a 1975 example with the redesigned rear bumper introduced in 1974; the real car was produced from 1968 to 1982. Hot Wheels released it beginning in 1976 with an unpainted metal base and blue-tinted windows, using redline wheels before shifting to big wheels in later runs, and it went on to appear in Super Chromes, Super Streeters, The Hot Ones, and the 1995 Real Riders Series. A related but distinct 1996 casting later depicted a 1980s-era Corvette, and a lifted variant was released separately as the Monster Vette.
