Ferrari 308 GTS

Like the Porsche Targa cataloged elsewhere on the Hot Wheels Wiki, the Ferrari 308 GTS casting came into the Hot Wheels catalog through Mattel's acquisition of Corgi's tooling rather than being designed in-house. The real 308 GTS gained particular fame in the early 1980s as Tom Selleck's car on the TV series Magnum, P.I., a connection that helped make Corgi's original die-cast especially popular before Hot Wheels continued producing the casting into later releases such as 1996.
