Ford Aerostar
The Ford Aerostar casting is based on Ford's minivan, produced from 1986 to 1997 as the company's answer to Chrysler and Chevrolet minivans and notable as the first minivan sold exclusively with V6 power. Hot Wheels built the toy from the earlier Vaultin' Van tooling originally developed for the Flip Outs series, which is why it has no molded interior and relies on chromed-out windows to hide the empty cabin. It debuted in the 1991 mainline in metalflake purple with yellow spots, and later releases included a white Qantas promotional version, a pizza-delivery livery, a Kinko's exclusive, and a Washington D.C.-themed entry in the 1995 Photo Finish Series.
