Ford J-Car

Ford J-Car, designed by Harry Bradley for Hot Wheels' 1968 Original 16 launch, is modeled on Ford's real breadvan-bodied successor to the GT40, built by Kar Kraft with an aluminum honeycomb tub chassis and the 427ci big-block from the GT40 Mk II. The full-size J-Car set a fast practice time at Le Mans in 1966 but was shelved in favor of the proven GT40, and further development ended after a fatal 1966 testing crash that killed driver Ken Miles, leading directly to the redesigned Ford Mark IV. The Hot Wheels casting was retooled starting in 2010.
