GM Lean Machine
Michael Kollins modeled this casting on GM's real Lean Machine, a single-occupant personal mobility concept designed by Frank Winchell in the 1980s as one of his final projects before retiring. The full-size original rode on motorbike-style tires with a 185cc Honda two-cylinder engine and could reportedly top 200 mpg; only three were ever built. The toy's lift-off canopy reveals a simplified interior, and early production carried Warner Bros. copyright text tied to the car's Demolition Man movie appearance before it was changed to read simply 'Lean Machine.'
