Lamborghini Countach

This Lamborghini Countach casting, designed by Larry Wood, is modeled on the LP400 S, Marcello Gandini's 1978 refinement of the original wedge-shaped Countach that added fiberglass wheel-arch extensions and an optional rear wing; only 237 real LP400 S cars were built before production ended in 1982. Early examples of the diecast molded that rear wing as a separate piece before Mattel integrated it into the body in later tooling. This 1996 Treasure Hunts release (toy #15075) falls within the casting's original 1988-1996 production window, before it was reissued again from 2011 to 2017.
