Police Cruiser

The 1973 Police Cruiser, a Larry Wood design later nicknamed the Olds 442 Police Cruiser by collectors, is a modified retool of the earlier Olds 442 casting, released with an opening hood and flashing dome light during the year Hot Wheels switched from Spectraflame to enamel paint across the board. Later 1974 releases swapped the dome color and eventually cast the hood shut, and in 1975 the same tooling was repainted red and renamed Chief's Special to resemble a fire chief's cruiser.
