Pontiac Salsa
The Pontiac Salsa casting is based on a 1992 GM Advanced Concept Center design that combined convertible, hatchback, and pickup functionality through interchangeable tops and tonneau covers, powered in real life by a front-wheel-drive 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder. Michael Kollins adapted it for Hot Wheels as part of the 1993 Demolition Man 9-car movie set, even though, like the Oldsmobile Aurora in the same set, the Salsa never actually appears in the film. The casting notably omits a true windshield, using molded and painted body sections to fake the glass.
