Porsche 959
This casting depicts the real Porsche 959, a rally-derived all-wheel-drive supercar that Porsche built from 1986 to 1993 under engineer Helmuth Bott after Group B competition rules were abolished and the project pivoted to road use. Power came from a twin-turbocharged 2.8-liter flat-six making 444 horsepower, enough to make the 959 the fastest street-legal production car of its era; only 345 were ever built, and originals now trade for well over a million dollars. Larry Wood's Hot Wheels rendition debuted in the 1988 Speed Fleet series and stayed in the lineup for decades afterward.
