Speed Machine

Speed Machine is the latest name for a casting originally designed by Ira Gilford and released in 1970 as Mantis, featuring an opening canopy over an exposed metal engine and side pipes. The tool was renamed Double Vision in 1973, when solid louvers replaced the visible engine, then reissued as Speed Seeker from 1984 through 1987. After a nine-year gap it returned as Speed Machine, distinguished from earlier releases by a canopy that no longer opens; this 1996 version (toy #15258) appeared in the Street Eaters Series.
