1977 #9639
Z Whiz
Z-Whiz debuted in 1977, the final year of Hot Wheels' Redline era, sculpted by Larry Wood after the Datsun 240Z/260Z/280Z (S30) body style. Its punny name plays on 'Z Car' and 'gee whiz,' and it was the first Japanese-market car turned into a Hot Wheels casting, later seeing releases in Italy, France, and Mexico.
