'80s Firebird

Larry Wood sculpted the '80s Firebird in 1983, basing it on the third-generation Pontiac Firebird built from 1982 to 1991, complete with its sloped nose and hatchback profile. The casting proved to be one of Hot Wheels' longer-lived tools, staying in circulation through numerous color and wheel changes across the 1980s and into its 1996 mainline release. It sits alongside other Firebird-based castings the brand has produced over the years, including Hot Bird.
